“Flying in a Microlight is the nearest I will ever get to flying like a bird. It wasn’t a silent soar but the noise wasn’t intrusive as I had found it in a hot air balloon. The sensation of looking down at the world was wonderful. Not to mention being able to listen and talk to the pilot as I did so.

Observing the impact of humankind on the natural features of the land fascinates me. Where homes have been placed, the shapes of the paddocks, the lumps and bumps of the hills and the flow of the water over the surface all feed my curiosity.

And I felt so safe in that fabulous machine. I didn’t have a moment of concern, it was all fun and it was intriguing that we were so stable hanging under that sail. If it went out of kilter it just adjusted itself it seemed to me. I can’t wait to fly again.”
